Mummelsee.com exists because the lake deserves more than a quick photo from the car park. It is an independent travel guide covering the Mummelsee, the Hornisgrinde, the Black Forest High Road and the towns around them — written to be genuinely useful before you go and while you are there.
What we cover
- How to reach the lake by car, bus, train or tour, with realistic journey times.
- Which tours are worth booking, ranked honestly and updated as ratings change.
- What to see beyond the shore — the Hornisgrinde, the national park, Allerheiligen, Baden-Baden and more.
- Where to sleep, so you can be at the lake when it is quiet.
- When to come, from summer boating to winter snow.
How we research
Facts, journey times and practical details are checked against official sources, transport operators and booking platforms, and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide; hotel scores from Trip.com. Where a figure moves around — parking charges, boat hire, bus timetables — we say so and tell you where to check, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.
Where we express an opinion, it is an opinion. We tell you when a place is crowded, when a tour has too few reviews to judge, and when the free option is the better one.
How the site is funded
We are a GetYourGuide affiliate partner and a Trip.com partner. If you book a tour or a room through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the only way this guide is funded — there is no advertising, no sponsored placement and no paid inclusion in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
Timetables change, prices rise, hotels change hands. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Write to us on the contact page.
